Frequently asked questions
How long should I wait before contacting Haven?
You will be able to check availability, and book, 14 days after receiving your award. They will also tell you the booking process and let you know your booking options.
How long do I have to book our family break?
You need to make a booking with Haven within nine months of receiving your family break grant. Breaks can, then, be taken after nine months, as long as they are booked within this time period. If no booking has been made, or if there are any unused funds after nine months, these will be returned to Family Fund.
Can I use the money to pay for more than one break?
Yes, you can use your grant to book two short breaks, rather than one long one if you wish to. You must still book both of these breaks within nine months of receiving your award letter.
What happens if I don’t spend the entire grant in one go?
Haven will keep any remaining grant money in your account for you to use at a later date, as long as it is used within nine months. Your Haven adviser will talk through your options when you call.
What happens if the break is more expensive than my grant?
Your grant is a contribution towards the cost of a family break but you can add a bit more of your own money if you want to book a more expensive break. You just need to discuss payment options and balance due-dates when booking your break.
Who can use the break grant?
Any holiday booked must include the main carer and the child that you applied for. Additional family members and/or carers can also be included on the booking. Please note: the main carer and child must travel on the family break.
Can I book a touring and camping break with Haven?
Yes. Please talk to Haven about a suitable pitch for your needs, by calling 0333 202 5423* or visiting the Haven website, touring and camping page for more information.
Can I book my break with my local travel agent?
No. Your grant award is waiting for you with Haven, and can only be used by contacting them directly on 0333 202 5423*.
Who should I contact if I have a query?
Haven should be your first point of contact for any queries relating to your family break. For any other questions, please call Haven on 0333 202 5423* .
