Frequently asked questions
Inspire works with over 300 agencies and tour operators to bring you the widest variety of family break options. Whether you choose to travel in the UK, or overseas.
All family break cards have an expiry date of six months from issue. You can find this date on your Family Fund online account, or by calling 0161 440 6743. You must book your break and spend the grant in full by this date, however your date of travel can be after the expiry date.
Any unused funds remaining on your family break card by the expiry date, will be cancelled and the balance will be returned to Family Fund.
Please keep your family break card in a safe place. If it is lost or stolen, please contact Inspire as soon as possible on 0161 440 6743.
Any break booked with the family break card must include a child’s main carer and the child that you have applied for. Additional family members and/ or carers can also be included on the booking.
Your grant is a contribution towards the cost of a family break. You can choose to add your own money to it, so you can find your ideal family break.

Inspire works with a range of suppliers to meet your needs. If your family requires a specialised holiday package, Inspire can provide some breaks through accessible travel specialists Enable Holidays.
Enable Holidays offers a range of specifically designed breaks, which include accessible accommodation, adapted transfers and carefully planned environments. For further information, please discuss your requirements with Inspire.
The cost of individual family breaks is determined by Inspire, with the intention of keeping costs as low as possible for families. At times it may seem that the cost of an Inspire family break is higher than other family break providers but this additional cost can come from third party family break providers including a booking fee on to the break.
It can take Inspire time to respond, depending on the complexity of the holiday you are looking to book. The more information you have, to hand, when making your enquiry (including clear dates and budget), the more quickly they should be able to get back to you.
All bookings need to be made directly with Inspire and they only make bookings with licensed, reputable operators. This is to ensure you are not at risk of losing your grant if your holiday is suddenly cancelled at short notice, or through bad practice on the part of the operator.
This sometimes means, however, that they are restricted to using recognised names or national organisations as smaller venues may have different licencing.
