Coding Superstars: Animate Spring

Design a simple animation in Scratch using colourful characters and backgrounds. We’ll explore loops, repetition, and costume changes to create smooth, repeating movements.

What you’ll need

To create your own animated spring character, you will need to access the FREE to use website Scratch – an online coding tool which is available to use on any phone, tablet or computer. 

Show us your work

Once you have created your own animated character in Scratch, you can send it to the Family Fund team using an app called Showbie. Showbie is a tool that allows you to join a virtual classroom and show off your amazing creations.

Ask a grown up to help you set up a Showbie account and join our virtual class using code: EEZYC4.

Additional challenge

Now that you have an understanding of how to create and animate a character in Scratch, show us your best efforts and submit as many different characters as you can make!

Send in your best characters through Showbie and we’ll take a look at how amazing they are and send you some lovely feedback. You may even see some of our favourites on the Family Fund social media channels!
