To make the process easier for Family Fund supporters, we’ve partnered with Octopus Legacy to offer a free will writing service online, on the phone or in person. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to use a solicitor close to you, you can find one on The Law Society.
The cost of making a will can vary, depending on the website, organisation or solicitor you use. It’s your right to compare prices and choose the best provider for your needs. No, a gift in your will of any size makes a very real difference to the families of tomorrow, offering them essential support they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.
Any gifts left in your will to any registered UK charities, including Family Fund, can help reduce the amount of inheritance tax that will be paid on your estate.
I have a question about leaving a gift to Family Fund
Your will writer can help you with the types of gift you can leave. There are two main types of gifts. A residuary gift – a percentage of your remaining estate after all other gifts are paid, such as gifts to family members. A pecuniary gift – specified monetary amount. Any gift makes a vital difference to a family in need.
You’re best to discuss this with your will provider or solicitor, as it depends on the type of gift you’d like to leave. If you do choose to leave a gift to Family Fund, you’ll need to include our full name, registered address and charity number:

We’ve partnered with Octopus Legacy who provide an expert will writing service. They aim to make writing your will more simple, easy and convenient. You can use this service or seek further independent local advice. You can use our free will writing service online, on the phone or in person.
Our free wills service is for basic wills only. If you need a more complex or urgent will, there may be a charge which is discounted for Family Fund supporters.
Due to a difference in legacy laws, we’re afraid you won’t be able to create your will online. You can still take advantage of our free will offer by calling Octopus on 020 4525 3605 and arranging an appointment by phone, video or in person. Remember to quote Family Fund.
You don’t have to leave a gift to us to use our free wills service and it’s accessible to all. But we’d love it if you would consider a legacy gift with us to support families right across the UK.
As part of registering your free will online, Octopus Legacy will ask you to subscribe to their will amendment service, allowing you to change details of your will at any time. This is free for the first year and £10 per year after that, a significant saving as compared to other will writing services. You are able to opt out of this service at any time by logging into your account.
