We are seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director to the FFBS Board who has experience of operating in a fast paced commercial environment. An understanding of strategies for growth and using digital technology to drive business success are required, to support our ambitious growth agenda. Board and governance experience is not essential as support can be given in this area. A passion for making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is also important!
The organisation
Family Fund Business Services a leading fulfilment and grant administration service. We work with charities, housing providers, local authorities and other organisations to make distributing practical support to people in need, efficient and hassle-free.
Established in 2013 as a social enterprise and wholly owned subsidiary of Family Fund, FFBS serves to generate additional, unrestricted funding for the charity. Every penny of profit is gifted to Family Fund and so, by partnering with FFBS, clients are helping to support even more families raising disabled or seriously ill children.
You will be joining FFBS at an exciting time! We have developed our new strategy and have recently appointed a new Chair to lead our team. Our strategy is ambitious and exciting as we build on the success we have already achieved and will explore new markets and opportunities.

The role
We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual who will bring passion and commitment, as well as skills and experience to our Board. NEDs play an active role in governing the business and holding it to account. They also contribute to strategic thinking and ensuring compliance with legal, charitable and financial requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and experience, while at the same time, giving back to a nationwide charity that makes a real practical difference to the lives of families every day.
Please download the Candidate Information Pack for more information.
Time commitment: Four Board meetings per year. NEDs may be asked to attend events from time to time to represent the trading subsidiary.
Term: The NED will serve an initial three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term.
Remuneration: The role is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although expenses for travel may be claimed.
Our commitment to inclusion
Inclusion is not a new concept at Family Fund and Family Fund Business Services.
It is fundamental to who we are and why we do what we do. With the input of our staff, we have created our inclusion statement. This sets out our commitment to improve inclusion in all aspects of our work. Read more on our website here.
We welcome candidates of any background who have the required skills and experience to be a trustee. We would like to particularly encourage those with disabilities or long-term conditions or who are parents or carers of children and young adults with disabilities or serious illnesses to apply, to bring fresh perspectives through lived experience.
