What is the Northumbrian Water Social Tariff?

Northumbrian Water’s Social Tariffs is called WaterSure, it is an affordability scheme intended to support households struggling with water and wastewater charges.

Who could the Northumbrian Water Social Tariff help?

Northumbrian Water customers in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham and parts of North Yorkshire may be able to apply for support if they have a water meter, and:

• Have three or more children living with you, or someone in the household has a medical condition that uses a lot of water.

And they receive at least one of the following benefits:

• Pension credit
• Income Support
• Income Related Employment and Support Allowance
• Income based Job Seekers Allowance
• Working Tax Credit
• Child Tax Credit (not including family element-only claimants)
• Housing Benefit, or
• Universal Credit.
