Make a social story: New school, new start

Whether your child or young person will be starting at a new school, or having a new start by moving into a new class, we can show you how to create a simple visual tool on any device to help them cope with change and prepare for a new situation.

We’ll use the free Canva website (or app) during the workshop to create a social story to help your child or young person prepare for a new school year. Canva is available on any device (iPad, Android tablet, smartphone, laptop or PC).

Come along if you can on Thursday 11 June at 10:30am to 11:30am.

We’re holding this workshop online via Zoom. An experienced trainer and a member of staff from the Family Fund team will be there to support.

Please note

• This is a friendly, informal workshop for parents and carers of disabled or seriously ill children and young people.
• You’ll need to have a device to access the internet to take part in the workshop activities. 
• To keep your device free to use during the workshop, you will need to join the Zoom call on another device, such as a smartphone or laptop.
