Emma Pinnock has worked in education for 20 years in a range of environments, such as PRUs, hospital schools, special schools âand mainstream education, holding senior management roles including Assistant Head and Acting Deputy Head. Her last teaching role, as the Head of Specialist Provision, focused on the needs and education of children with autism.
Emma’s passion to support disabled children and families has derived from her personal journey of living and loving in a family with special educational needs, which has given her unique insight and led to her belief in people’s abilities to overcome barriers and face unknown territory.
She is now the Director of the Essential Education Group which is a consultancy which serves both education organisations and families on their special needs journey. As a teacher, trainer, coach, team member and much more, Emma seeks to inspire people and organisations to make room for neurodiverse people to uniquely take their place.
“Having the opportunity to share my professional and personal experiences in the role of trustee is so rewarding. Family Fund is a crucial and impactful charity which really seeks to serve families who are experiencing SEND whilst balancing the impact of a low income. As a result of working in the field of SEND, it is so clear to see the importance of Family Fund and the lifeline and hope they offer to so many families. It is truly a privilege to support Family Fund to support families.”
