Wales grant programme open for applications until Monday 18 November

This is open to families living in Wales who are raising a disabled or seriously ill child, aged 17 or younger, on a low income.

Who’s eligible for these grants?

These grants are for families:

• living in Wales
• raising a child or young person aged between 0 and 17
• caring for a child or young person with a long-term disability, disabling condition or life-limiting illness
• on a low income from working or receiving income-related benefits.

Your child also needs to have a high level of support in at least three areas of our child and young person eligibility criteria. Please make sure you check our criteria list before you start your application.

What can families apply for?

Families can apply for a wide range of items suited to their needs: kitchen appliances like a fridge, cooker, or washing machine; clothing or beds and bedding, sensory or play equipment, technology like tablets and laptops or a family break. See here what grant items we provide.

FAQ

Why is this grant programme only open for a limited time?

Family Fund is a charity, and we have limited funding. The grants we can provide depend on the level of funding we receive. With more people applying to us now, than ever before, including from people applying to us for the first time, we can only offer a limited window for applications.

How often can I re-apply to Family Fund?

You can apply to us again 24 months from the date you last applied.

We want to help as many families as we possibly can. But, due to limited funding, we only have a certain window when this programme is open. If it is closed when you become eligible to apply again, please keep an eye on our channels for news of when we will reopen again.

I applied within the last 24 months and can’t apply during this window. So when can I re-apply?

We will re-open the Wales grant programme as soon as more funding becomes available. Please keep an eye on our channels for news of reopening.

What other help is available if I can’t apply for a grant right now?

Alongside our grants, we help families find, and access, other available support across Wales. This includes information and resources on where to go for help with money and benefits, budget planning, your children’s education, mental health and wellbeing, digital training and creative workshops. Will your opening window for this programme stay the same now?

This opening window is based on our current funding and we will always review it, if funding changes. We are working hard to secure new income, so we can support the increasing numbers of people now coming to us for support.

My child will turn 18 before I can reapply for the Wales grant programme – what can I do?

Your Opportunity supports young people aged 18 to 24 years old, and is separate from our Wales programme. Please keep an eye on our channels for news of the Your Opportunity grant programme opening.

What are you doing to get more funding for families in Wales?

We continue to work hard to secure additional funding so we can support as many families as possible who need us.
