Summer can be a challenging time for families with disabled or seriously ill children, with changes in routine, crowded places and sensory overload in the warmer weather. 

It’s time consuming looking for family days out that are right for your whole family and fully accessible.

Here’s some help to find accessible days out:

AccessAble 

Find wheelchair friendly venues or check out disabled access and facilities. 

Euan’s Guide 

This charity provides information and reviews on disabled access by disabled people. You can search a location or specific venue to read reviews and see what facilities are offered. 

NHS Better Health 

Find free tips, resources and tools for accessible family activities both at home, and out and about. 

Tourism for All

If you’re planning a break away, this charity event can help you find disabled friendly accommodation, attractions, events, and more.

Access cards

Apply for access cards to gain discounted or carer passes to venues and events across the UK.

Max Card 

The Max Card is a discount card for foster families and families of children with additional needs. It can be used at specified venues across the UK to get free or discounted admission. 

CEA Card 

This gives a complimentary ticket to someone going with a disabled person when they visit a participating cinema.

The children’s charity partner of Merlin Entertainments provides gifted/free magical days out for children to visit one of their 140+ Merlin attractions. 

Barrie Wells Trust ‘Box4Kids’ 

Nominate a disabled or seriously ill child for an unforgettable VIP experience in a VIP box at an event or sports match.

Discover Digital summer festival

This summer, our very own Discover Digital summer festival returns. Festival sessions are friendly, fun and accessible and give children valuable skills to develop confidence and creativity in everyday life. 

The workshops are interactive, so they’re a great way to socialise with other kids and families across the summer holidays, when other sessions and activities may not be running.
