Give up, give back this January

Every single day families we support are having to give up essentials we take for granted. This month you could make a big difference by giving up something small and donating so we can support even more families on a low income raising disabled and seriously ill children, struggling with winter pressures.

Whether it’s your coffee treat or your January gym membership – every penny you donate to Family Fund means we can get essential grants and services to UK families who need them most.

What you could give up, to give back?

No amount is too small… What would you choose? 

• To swap your takeaway coffee for a tasty home-brewed one
• Skip a takeaway this month
• Do a home workout instead of getting that January membership
• Downgrade or cancel your streaming service
• Cancel a subscription you never use…or
• Donate the cost of a sweet treat?

“I had to give up [my job] to be able to look after Charlotte.” 

Five-year-old Charlotte lives in Peterborough with siblings, Kenzie, Timothy and Eli, and mum, Jess.  

“Charlotte has spina bifida. Her spine didn’t develop properly, and she is wheelchair-bound, likely for life, but she can crawl now. She has a catheter that she needs my help to use. Charlotte has to have medication at different points of the day.

“I used to work part time as a cleaner, but I had to give up [my job] to be able to look after Charlotte.”

“The money side of things is difficult. Luckily, I get help and universal credit, but even buying nappies for Charlotte for the size she needs is very expensive.” 

“When Charlotte was born, she needed me to be there for her. I don’t think I’ll be able to work again until she learns how to catheter herself. I fight every day for what Charlotte deserves. I spend my life defending my child, so she continues to get what she needs.”
