Help Family Fund to support UK families raising disabled and seriously ill children.
Why families need your support
We believe that families raising disabled and seriously ill children should be able to live well and truly thrive. Yet for too many, that hope feels distant. The additional cost of caring can reach as much as £1,095 a month, leaving parents under immense financial pressure, coping with stress and isolation, while children miss out on learning, play and the simple joys every child deserves.
For more than 50 years, Family Fund has been working to make life better for UK families raising disabled and seriously ill children — especially those on the lowest incomes. We do this by providing grants and practical support that help make daily life easier, more manageable and more enjoyable.
Our grants are modest, but they give practical help, comfort and stability:
A day away from the relentless routine of caring – a chance to rest, reconnect and make memories together as a family
A new washing machine that can cope with double the load
A working fridge to store medication and foods for a child’s special diet
Extra clothes for a child who needs changing several times a day
Toys and digital devices so children can play, learn and stay connected
Travel costs to visit a child in hospital for urgent medical care
Since 1973 we’ve provided more than 1.5m grants to families, including more than 80,000 last year. But there is more to do, and we need your help.
How to help
Whether you choose to give through a monthly direct debit, a one-off donation, or support us through a legacy gift in your will, your support will allow Family Fund to do more to help more families with disabled and seriously ill children.
Family Fund has partnered with expert estate planners Octopus Legacy to offer a free will writing service. We will cover costs of up to £150 so you can create a simple will. You don’t have to leave a gift to Family Fund to use our free wills service, but every legacy gift enables us to reach more families with disabled and seriously ill children who need our help.
