For many families, summer brings the promise of outdoor fun, quality time together and a break from busy daily routines.
But for families raising disabled or seriously ill children on a low income, summer means no break, round-the-clock caring in the heat and keeping on top of medicine and wider health routines. It means being unable to afford play equipment, accessible days out or inclusive clubs and activities, let alone a holiday.
Over 50% of the families we support say they can’t afford leisure equipment like a bike for their child, and 98% say they have no formal childcare outside of school or education.
Every child should be able to get outdoors and relax, feel included in activities and enjoy new experiences with their friends and family.
That’s why we need your help – to fund vital grants and services that can transform summer for disabled and seriously ill children and their families.
