How our new campaign is showing the power of ‘One Good Day’
This winter, families raising disabled or seriously ill children are facing some incredibly tough choices. Many are telling us they’re juggling rising costs, increasing worry, and the daily pressures of caring. That’s why we’re launching One Good Day — a campaign that shows how even a single moment of joy, calm or connection can help change everything.
At the heart of the campaign is a short film sharing the story of Daniel, his mum Esther, dad Charles and brother David. For years, medical appointments and money worries meant they rarely had the chance to spend proper time together. Their One Good Day — a simple, happy trip to the zoo — became a moment they will always treasure. It’s a reminder of what so many families tell us they need: time to breathe, rest and feel like a family again.
“The trip gave us a chance to be a family together. We’ll cherish it forever. One good day made us feel like we could keep going.”

Our Group CEO, Cheryl Ward, CBE, explains why the campaign feels so important:
“The families we support aren’t asking for luxuries — they’re asking for breathing space. Our One Good Day campaign shows that small things — a sensory toy, a night’s sleep, or a family trip — can make an enormous difference. When families have spent months just getting through each day, one good day can help remind them what life can feel like again.”
How you can get involved
We’d love your support to help more families experience their One Good Day this winter. If you can, please donate and share the campaign with your networks.
Every pound helps bring moments of joy, rest and connection to families who need them most — making life feel a little brighter, even in the hardest months.
