Looking for fundraising ideas this October? Whether you want to take on a challenge, host a get-together or simply cheer others on, there are lots of ways to support Family Fund and help families raising disabled or seriously ill children.
Here are the charity fundraising events and activities happening in October 2025 – and how you can join in.
Cardiff Half Marathon fundraising – Sunday 5 October
The Cardiff Half Marathon is one of the UK’s most popular races, with a flat route past the city’s most iconic landmarks – from Cardiff Castle and the Principality Stadium to Cardiff Bay and Roath Park Lake.
Our charity places for 2025 are now full, but you can still get involved:
- Cheer on Team Family Fund on the day and show your support.
- Donate to help our amazing runners reach the finish line.
- Plan ahead: why not sign up to another running challenge, or secure your own place in a future race and run for Family Fund?
Every step taken helps provide essential support for families raising disabled or seriously ill children.

Brew and a Break – cosy autumn fundraising
Autumn is the perfect season to put the kettle on, grab a slice of something warm and comforting, and gather people together. With Brew and a Break, you can host your own coffee morning (or tea break!) to raise money for Family Fund.
This month, why not lean into the season with bakes like spiced apple cake, pumpkin muffins or sticky toffee pudding? And with Bake Off back on TV, you could even turn it into a friendly competition – who can whip up the best showstopper?
It’s a simple, cosy way to bring people together, enjoy good company, and raise funds that will make a real difference for families.
