“You never think it’s going to be you.” Meet our recent lottery winner
We have a winner! Lynne, who lives with her family in the Scottish borders, recently won £1,000 from Family Fund’s lottery. She talks about her experience with Family Fund and why she decided to play the lottery.

“We have a son who is non-verbal autistic. Safety was the first reason we applied to Family Fund. We have a lot of issues keeping him safe and we have a lot of things that get broken.
“We used [the] funding to buy a piece of furniture which was a big unit for the living room to put the TV inside. It meant we could remove the homemade barricade that we had made. The night we got the TV unit installed, it was the first time we could sit down and have a cup of tea without having to get up all the time to stop him climbing at the TV.”
Playing the lottery
For Lynne, playing the lottery was less about winning and more a small way to give back to Family Fund.
“I don’t have the energy, time or resources to do fundraising like bake sales. This is one little thing I can do that doesn’t take any of my time. You never think it’s going to be you. It was more about playing it so money goes into Family Fund.
“Look at it as you are donating money to the charity that is going to some amazing work and help a lot of families and children out.”
“When we found out I had won £1,000, my husband was in the living room and he said ‘want to go out for a cup of tea and we will celebrate’. The kids were in school and it was a break from working from home.”
Spending the winnings
“We’ve not told the kids we have won, they would spend it in 10 seconds. We have got a holiday booked so the winnings might get put towards the spending money for activities for the kids with day trips out.
“It’s so nice to have that money. If we get an unexpected broken telly, that’s what will pay for it.”
A way to give back
Playing the lottery is an easy way to give back to Family Fund. For just £1 a week you have the chance of winning up to £25,000 while helping support families raising disabled and seriously ill children.
