Unit 1: Basic block coding

Unit 1 of the coding pathway will cover basic block coding using Scratch.

When is the live workshop?

The live workshop for this unit will take place on Saturday 31 January at 10:30am.

The link to join this call will be emailed to you before this date.

What will I learn in this unit?

This unit will cover using Scratch as a beginner. Scratch is a block based programming language from MIT. You will learn:

  • Create a scene and a character
  • Make your character move
  • Change the colour of your character
  • Add your character into a game
  • Play your own game

How do I pass this unit?

To claim the AQA awarded certificate, you must complete a learner assessment.

This should be very simple to do, once you have watched the workshop and created your own mini project in Scratch.

This assessment is available in Showbie – the learning system that Family Fund are using.
