Unit 3: Basics of testing and debugging

Unit 3 of the coding pathway will cover understanding the importance of testing and how to debug and find errors.

When is the live workshop?

The live workshop for this unit will take place on Saturday 28 February at 10:30am.

What will I learn in this unit?

This unit will cover using Scratch as a beginner. Scratch is a block based programming language from MIT. You will learn:

  • Understand why and how to perform testing and debugging in programming
  • Learn the common techniques for identifying and fixing issues
  • Perform your own testing and debugging of a Scratch project

How do I pass this unit?

To claim the AQA awarded certificate, you must complete a learner assessment.

This should be very simple to do, once you have watched the workshop and created your own mini project in Scratch.

This assessment is available in Showbie – the learning system that Family Fund are using.

Where is the recorded workshop?

The recorded version of the workshop will be added here on Friday 13 February 2026.
