Coding club: The secret ‘Calm down’ garden

Calling all coders! Can you use your voice to make a secret digital garden bloom without making a sound?

In this fun online coding session, we’re going to turn your device into a smart listening machine using Scratch! Instead of using a keyboard or touchscreen, you’ll code a hidden garden that listens to the room around you. If you can stay super quiet or hum a gentle tune, magical flowers, leaves and colours will pop up and grow across your screen. But watch out – if you clap, laugh or shout, your garden will disappear in a flash!

We are holding this workshop online via Zoom. An experienced trainer and a member of staff from the Family Fund team will be there to support.

Please note:

• This is a friendly, informal workshop intended for families caring for a disabled or seriously ill child or young person – siblings are very welcome to join in too.
• You’ll need to have a device to access the internet to take part in the workshop activities.
• To keep your device free to use during the workshop, you will need to join the Zoom call on another device, such as a smartphone or laptop.
