Salary: £34,241 – £36,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 35 per week (Monday – Friday)

Location: hybrid working partly at home and partly in the office depending on candidate preference (our office is based in Monks Cross, York). Some travel will be required to visit our amazing families across the UK and to meet colleagues in the office.

Do a job that makes a difference

We are looking for a Stories Manager to join our Communications Team.  In this role you will lead on the planning and implementation of story gathering of our families and people with lived experience of disability.  In this role you will:

  • Develop a stories strategy that aligns our communications plan and objectives within family voice and language guidelines.
  • Lead Family Fund’s stories function, in line with best-in-sector storytelling, to deliver organisational objectives and champion best practice for storytelling across Family Fund.
  • Line manage the Communications and Marketing Assistant to deliver the stories strategy, support the engagement and growth of family voice, ensuring all objectives and tactics are delivered on time and to budget. This includes interviewing families, ensuring an engaging the family blog programme, engaging multimedia content and a robust family story database.
  • Ensure delivery of relevant family stories for media work- supporting all reactive requests from journalists. Deliver powerful and diverse stories content for campaigns and all organisational channels, e.g. email, print, social media, website and film.

To join our team you'll need experience of creating written and video content for different audiences and interviewing people, including those where sensitivity is required.  Promotional and marketing experience is also needed – ideally within a third sector environment. You’ll need strong digital communications skills and experience of using content management systems.
