Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people – providing over 88,000 grants and services worth over £33 million last year.

As Safeguarding and Policy Officer, you will support the delivery of Family Fund safeguarding responsibilities, processing safeguarding concerns raised, assessing the perceived risks and establishing if protective measures are in place.

You will undertake a wide range of administrative duties, including developing and maintaining the framework for the annual review of all grant guidelines and policies, documenting changes to guidelines and providing support to colleagues on Grant Services policies and grant guideline enquiries. You will also assist in ensuring all grant items requiring a grant value amendment are proposed for the new financial year.

Along with safeguarding and administrative duties, you will make eligibility decisions on applications in accordance with Family Fund guidelines and within set timescales, referring for further assessment where necessary. You will also be responsible for organising and administering the children and young people’s eligibility appeals process within the team.

To be successful in this role you will have a proven track record in working with criteria-based decision-making, along with strong analytical and reasoning skills. In addition to superb attention to detail and excellent administration skills, you will ideally have knowledge of disabilities, medical conditions and terminology. You will have the ability to build successful working relationships whilst being able to handle pressure and work to deadlines.
