Argos is our contract provider for your household and recreations grant. These awards can only be provided through this supplier and we cannot consider a cash alternative. Your Argos card will be sent to you separately from your grant award letter. The card cannot be used online.  Only the main carer is permitted to use the Argos gift card in the specified stores.

How to activate your card

You must activate your card before use. This can be done by following the instructions below. You will not be able to use your card until it is activated. 

  1. Call the card phone line 0345 640 0879. Follow the instructions you will be given. The card activation service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  2. Select option 1 on your telephone keypad. Follow the instructions given.
  3. Enter the last four digits of your card number. This can be found on the front of your card.
  4. Enter the four digit activation code. This is the code that you will find in the award method section of your grant award letter. Do not enter your Family Fund number.
  5. Once activated please keep your card in a safe place. Please note that the card will take around 24 hours to become active.

If you lose your activation code, you will find it in your award letter please contact us to request a copy of your award letter. Please note we cannot confirm your activation code by email. You do not need your activation code to make purchases with the card.

Using your card

You must only use the money on the card to buy the items on your grant award letter. If your total bill is more than the amount on your card you must pay the difference before they swipe your card.

The total amount of your Recreation and Household items grant must be used within three months from the date that your Family Fund award letter was sent, otherwise the card will expire and the funds will be lost.

When you have purchased your items please keep all the receipts for 12 months from the date of the purchase as we may write to you and ask for them.

Other information about your Argos card

You do not have to buy all of the items you have been awarded at the same time. However the total amount of the grant must be used within three months of the date on your Family Fund award letter.

If your card is lost or stolen please call 0345 640 0879 and select option 4.
