Family Fund has been awarded an additional £230,000 from Welsh Government to support over 600 further low-income families with disabled children in Wales.

These funds come as part of a support package for unpaid carers worth £7 million, in recognition of the vital care which they provide.

Cheryl Ward, Chief Executive of Family Fund, said:

“We welcome this additional funding from Welsh Government to support families raising disabled and seriously ill children, following the significant additional caring pressures created by the pandemic.

“Our grants give eligible families the opportunity to take a break, and access tailored support that meets each household’s needs.

“Research by Family Fund has made evident the additional emotional and financial strain which families on lower incomes with disabled or seriously ill children have faced, and this investment into supporting their recovery is timely and important.”
