Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families on low incomes raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people, with over 89,000 grants and services worth over £33 million provided in 2018/19. We are continuing to adapt to the impact of Coronavirus and are doing everything we can to ensure we provide this essential grant support when it is needed the most. Joining the team at this time, you will play a vital role in providing invaluable support to the Communications Team within the organisation.

As Marketing and Communications Assistant you will be responsible for supporting the team in promoting our grants and services to families through a variety of online methods, providing day-to day administrative support and platform updates. You will play a crucial role in helping raise the profile of Family Fund through content creation, campaigns and family engagement.

Main duties include:

  • Creating and scheduling posts for Family Fund social media channels, providing day-to-day monitoring and management, and supporting campaigns and activity in line with organisational objectives.
  • Updating and maintaining the Family Fund website using a wide range of imagery and video footage where available.
  • Engaging with families via social media, responding to queries as necessary, noting trends in comments and posts, capturing informal feedback, and supporting the creation and appropriate use of of new user-generated content.
  • Copywriting for different audiences across a range of communications channels, including email, newsletters, websites and social media.
  • Identifying and developing opportunities for sharing families’ voices through our communication channels.
  • Working alongside the Events and Outreach Co-ordinator to assist in the development and implementation of the online events programme.

To be considered for this role you should come to us with some experience of managing or moderating public-facing social media channels, and of writing for public audiences. You should be a confident user of all social media channels, email, and digital communication tools and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The role will require you to handle confidential information and deal with individuals in sensitive situations so you should be a clear and open communicator able to demonstrate empathy and listen to others. Organised, hard-working and courteous, you should be a pro-active self-starter that is both adaptable and resilient to work demands and committed to achieving the objectives of our fantastic organisation.

This role would ordinarily be based at our offices in Monk’s Cross (York) however, as a result of Coronavirus, we have transitioned this team to enable them to work effectively from home. Here at Family Fund the health and wellbeing of our staff is of paramount importance and as a home-worker you will be given all the support you need to join our team remotely, and transition back into the office when it is appropriate to do so.
