What is #FamilyGameathon?

#FamilyGameathon is a fun way to raise money for Family Fund through gaming. Whether you take your mates on in a tournament, go solo or take part in a variety of different games as a family, the funds you raise by playing your favourite games will mean we can help more families raising disabled children live well through hardship. We have set a 300 hours total team challenge for you to play towards, so gather your teams and get gaming!

How do I take part?

Taking part is really simple:

  1. Donate £10 here to enter
  2. Set up a JustGiving page to start fundraising and encourage your friends and family to donate, support and sponsor.
  3. Assemble your players ⚡️

Please see our Rules of Play for further information.

When is the event?

Play anytime during October with the competition closing midnight Sunday 1 November. Any hours that you choose to do can be collected and recorded anytime within this period, however we encourage gaming sessions to be played at weekends and during the holidays. Remember, we are all playing towards a TOTAL target of 300hrs. You can do as many or as few as you like.

Are there any prizes?

Yes! We have a brand new ASUS Laptop to give away to the family that raises the most money.

Please note, there are no prizes for the number of hours you play, as we are all playing towards the 300 hours total team target.

When you set up your JustGiving page, we will receive notifications of the total raised, and these will be used to determine the winner. This will close on Sunday 1 November at midnight. Anything after this time will not be counted towards the prize.

When will the winner be announced?

The winner of the laptop will be announced on Monday 2 November at 12 noon. The winner will also be contacted separately. Please be aware, we will be celebrating the event and announcing the winner across our social media platforms. We will ask the winner for permission to do this prior to any communications.

What kind of games can we play?

The games you play are entirely up to you! However, we would encourage you to be mindful of the type of game you choose to play when fundraising for us and would ask that games with excessive violence or sexual content are avoided. Please ensure the games you choose to play are age appropriate.

You could play online games such as MarioKart or Minecraft, or board games such as Monopoly or even card based games such as Snap! Anything is fine - join up, play as a family, raise money

How do I join the #FamilyGameathon on social media?

During #FamilyGameathon, stay in touch and let us know how you are getting on via our social media channels and tag us at @FamilyFund. Also be sure to email [email protected] with your clocked hours daily.

Do I have to fundraise?

No. If you would like to take part but do not want fundraise, you are of course still welcome to play. You can follow Step 1 above to enter by donating £10 on our website and then you can still have lots of fun taking part and clocking and sharing your hours.

However, if you choose not to fundraise, this does mean you will miss out on the chance to win the laptop.

Will my gaming be streamed?

No. We will not be live streaming anyone’s games on this occasion.

What support do you offer?

We will be on hand during the event to provide fundraising tips, ideas on fun ways to get your team together and answer any questions to make sure your #FamilyGameathon is a success.
