Joining the team at this time, you will play a vital role in ensuring the organisation is able to reach it’s aims and objectives in a compliant manner. As Compliance Officer you will be responsible for providing proactive support in the planning, execution and delivery of compliance, information governance, and risk management assurance work programmes; working independently, explaining findings and presenting recommendations. You will also be required to work closely with stakeholders to monitor and report on completion of actions. Main duties include: Completing the monthly information for our assurance work programmes including clear desk checks, QA procedure checks and verifying that departmental meetings are completed in accordance with a predefined assurance timetable. Monitoring and reporting on departments’ progress in completing actions relating to data protection impact assessments. Completing assurance work around business systems, data retention and departmental risk registers and assisting with the documentation, evaluation and review of key internal controls. Supporting in ensuring statutory returns are made to our key regulators - including Charity Commission, The Financial Conduct Authority and ICO. Assisting the Risk and Compliance Manager in responding to Subject Access Requests and Breach notifications. Assist in the preparation of reports for leadership and board meetings on the findings of all assurance work. To be considered for this role you should come to us with significant experience working in a governance / regulatory environment within compliance, risk and record management and be experienced in providing advice, support and guidance related to regulatory compliance. You should be fully competent in Microsoft Office and have a sound knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). With excellent research and analysis skills you should have an ability to undertake complex analysis and be able to review and evaluate systems and procedures, explaining findings and making recommendations. You should also possess excellent written and oral communications skills and be comfortable and competent communicating complex ideas at the appropriate level for a range of recipients. Self-motivated and flexible, you should have good decision-making skills and an ability to work independently but also have the interpersonal skills to work as part of a wider team and influence staff at all levels. This role would ordinarily be based at our offices in Monk’s Cross (York) however, as a result of Covid-19, we have transitioned this team to enable them to work effectively from home during the pandemic.
