Discover Digital festival frequently asked questions
Whether you signed up for a Discover Digital festival workshop and ready to go, or are looking for some more information, see our frequently asked questions below.
The workshops will take place on Zoom, which is an easy-to-use video calling platform.
Before the workshop you’ll receive an email with a link to join the session.
We’ll also be in touch to provide a guide on how to set up Zoom and offer any other support you may need to use it.
To participate, you will need:
- an internet connection.
- a device to make your creation on. This can be a smartphone, Android tablet, iPad or PC. Please note that some workshops are only compatible with an iPad device.
- a second device (like a phone or tablet) where you can view the workshop.
- the apps that you’ll use in the workshops you are attending. Please read the section “Which apps will I need” for further information.
All sessions are held on Zoom and we’ll use a site called Showbie to enable participants to share their creations. Please download Zoom here and Showbie here before the workshop starts. You’ll also receive this information before your workshop to help you if you get stuck.
See below the links to the websites and apps you’ll need for the workshops:

We cater for all families with a range of needs. When you sign up, our registration form allows you to tell us about any adjustments your family needs to take part. If you have any questions about the accessibility of the sessions or would like to make us aware of adjustments your child might need, please email us at [email protected] or call us on 01904 550066.
Each session lasts about one hour.
We understand that children and young people who attend the Discover Digital summer festival may not stay engaged throughout the full one-hour session. Children and young people are welcome to take a break from the session whenever it suits them. A recap video will be available after the session if your child misses a part of the session.
If your child will need any adjustments to help them during the one-hour workshop, please email us at [email protected] or call us on 01904 550066.
You don’t need to have your camera turned on. If you prefer to remain off camera and/or not actively engage, that is completely okay.
We’re happy for you to observe and participate at whatever level you are most comfortable.
You can do one session or all of them. Sessions are filled on a first come, first served basis but there is no limit to how many you can sign up to.
If you go to register for a workshop and it’s full, get in touch to try and arrange an alternative date if one is available. We will also add you to the waitlist, in case a place becomes available at a later date. Please email us at [email protected] or call us on 01904 550066.
It’s important that you let us know if you can’t attend the workshop. Please email us at [email protected] as soon as possible.
The sessions are free, but they are limited, so please let us know if you can no longer attend. This means we can offer your place to another family, who may otherwise not be able to join the session.
The workshops will run in a group setting and we ask that an adult is present throughout. There may be times in the session where some activities will need an adult’s help. The sessions are suitable for the whole family, so siblings are very welcome to join in too. You can register siblings’ names when you sign up.
If you have two or more children joining, they can join on one device together or on a different device independently, whatever option is best for you.
