Miriam's Volunteering Story Miriam is a volunteer blogger for Family Fund. She writes about her experience as a parent carer to a disabled child. Miriam’s Volunteer Story My name is Miriam, and I volunteer for Family Fund. I volunteer for Family Fund because I know personally just how much every single award means to those families. Why do you volunteer for Family Fund? As a parent of a disabled child myself, I know how much it meant to me when we were given awards for things like washing machines and sensory toys. I just know the impact that these awards have on families. I volunteer because I want to give something back and to help more families like mine. What would you say to someone who was interested in volunteering? Absolutely go for it! Your time is something that is so valuable for charities like Family Fund, and for families like mine. By volunteering just a few hours of your week, or your month, you are making a significant difference for families with disabled children. Volunteers are the backbone of charities like Family Fund. There is nothing more fulfilling in life than to help a charity to help those in need. It is the most worthwhile thing you will ever do. You are making a difference to children with disabilities, and to families all around the UK.
