Family Fund Business Services (FFBS) is the trading subsidiary of Family Fund, the UK’s largest charity providing grants to families raising disabled or seriously ill children. FFBS builds on the grant administration expertise of the charity to provide fulfilment services to organisations across the UK. All the profits from FFBS are gifted to Family Fund.

As Bid Writer your key responsibility will be to prepare and submit high quality bid applications and tender responses that enable FFBS to retain and expand our customer base. You will develop and maintain excellent knowledge of FFBS and build relationships with the Business Development and Operational teams in order to research, design, write and submit detailed applications for fulfilment services and end to end grant administration services, to relevant organisations including charities, local authorities, housing organisations and procurement frameworks.

In addition to overseeing the completion of compliant, high quality, bids, proposals and tenders within requisite timescales, your other key responsibilities include: 

  • monitoring business opportunities and developing a clear bid pipeline
  • collating new proposal content to form a bid library
  • undertaking research as required to compile prospect lists and produce funding briefs
  • Preparing reports for presentation to senior managers and non-executive directors

Educated to degree level with proven experience in bid writing, you will have excellent research, writing and checking skills, and close attention to detail. Your influencing writing style and exceptional document presentation skills compliment your ability to research and secure new business opportunities. A first-class negotiator, listener and creative thinker, you’re a great team player, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.

This post is based in York with occasional travel throughout the UK.
