Statement on changes to Welsh Government funding of Family Fund The Welsh Government is making changes to the funding it previously made available to charities working in areas relating to social services, including Family Fund. From April 2016, the four social services grants will be replaced by a new Third Sector grant which aims to support Welsh Ministers’ priorities of a new and equal relationship between people and practitioners; early intervention and prevention; and transforming the way people’s needs for care and support are met. One of the four grants affected is the one Family Fund currently receives to provide our own grant support and services in Wales, which will end in March 2016. We will of course be applying for funding to continue making grants under the new proposals. However, because of the changes to the Welsh Government’s criteria, it is possible that we may not be able to provide the same range or level of grant support that we do currently. The current funding is available now and will remain in place until the end of March 2016, and we will continue to provide grants to as many families as possible during this time. Once the new funding arrangements have been confirmed in December 2015, we will inform families of the outcome as soon as possible. Given the potential changes, we would encourage families considering applying for a particular grant, to apply now, in case we are unable to provide that support after March 2016.
