Lisa, a mum of two who lives in the Midlands, has told the story of her son Tom’s battle and incredible recovery from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in the 17 October edition of Chat magazine.

Tom was just a baby when he was diagnosed with the aggressive form of cancer, and fell into a life-threatening coma. However, he defied all the odds, and began the slow process of recovery.

Family Fund was able to support Lisa with funds to meet the family’s hospital visiting costs, and throughout the years, continued to help with items to meet Tom’s ongoing needs resulting from his illness, easing the pressure on his family and improving his wellbeing.

Lisa, who had never shared his story beyond family and friends, wanted to speak out in the magazine to inspire other parents raising seriously ill children not to give up hope, and to raise awareness of the grants and services that Family Fund can offer.

Read the full story in Chat magazine's digital edition this week (17 October).
