Queen's Birthday Honours 2016 Congratulations to Christine Lenehan, Director, Council for Disabled Children on receiving her Damehood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2016. Christine received the award in recognition of her outstanding work for disabled children and young people, and those with special educational needs, spanning over 35 years. Family Fund has worked closely with Christine and CDC and is proud to share her passion to help disabled children, young people, and their families. Also announced in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List was Martine Wright MBE who supported Family Fund at our Development Day in 2014 with her inspirational journey to the Paralympics. Martine is on the Sitting Volleyball Paralympic team. She has been playing since 2009 following her severe injuries in the London 7/7 bombings in 2005 which left her as a double above-knee amputee. Susan North, Director of Operations at The National Parent Carer Participation Programme was awarded an MBE for her services to children and families. She previously worked for Contact a Family and again has worked very closely with Family Fund over the years. Family Fund extends its congratulations to them all.
