In response to the continuing crisis caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, Family Fund has received extra funding to support families on low incomes raising disabled or seriously ill children in England and Northern Ireland.

We have been awarded £3.5 million from the Department for Education, which will allow us to provide an additional 7,000 grants for families in England. In addition, we have received extra funding worth £480,000 from the Department of Health in Northern Ireland, which will help us support an additional 1,300 families.

Families can apply now for a range of grants, including computers and tablets, outdoor play equipment, sensory toys, clothing and kitchen appliances.

Cheryl Ward, Chief Executive of Family Fund, said “We are grateful to the Department for Education, and the Department of Health in Northern Ireland, for their continuing support for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people.

“This crisis has hit our families hard, and thanks to our funders and the efforts of our team, we have already been able to help more families in nine months than we did in the whole of the previous year. But there remains more to do, and I encourage any family that could be eligible for support to get in touch and find out more about how we can help.”
