The Department for Education has announced that temporary changes to the law for Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans won’t be extended beyond 31 July.

On 1 May 2020, in response to the Coronavirus lockdown, some aspects of the law on Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and plans changed temporarily. This was to give local authorities, health and education settings more flexibility in responding to the demands placed on them by Coronavirus.

The Department for Education has announced these changes will end, which will help disabled children access the support they need to return to school in September.

The legal timescales for various EHC processes have been relaxed until 25 September.
