Michelle from Liverpool is spending her birthday supporting families raising disabled and seriously ill children and young people this March by hosting a Family Fund Messy Tea Party!

“My seven year old son Jacob has autism so I know about Family Fund because of how they’ve helped my own family with grants.”

“Family Fund has given my family the chance to go to Haven in North Wales which has been brilliant. It’s the same holiday each year and Jacob has just started doing the activities on his own there! When we started at Haven he wouldn’t go near any of them and just stayed in the caravan, but now he’s used to the place and he recognises the staff so he’s more willing to get involved. It’s fantastic! “

Michelle wanted to give something back to Family Fund but it wasn’t until she saw the Messy Tea Party campaign on Facebook that she knew exactly how she wanted to get involved. The Messy Tea Party campaign invites people from across the country to make their best messy bakes with the family followed by throwing their own fundraising cake sale. Michelle soon realised having a Messy birthday party would be a great way to get involved.

By hosting a Messy Tea Party on her birthday Michelle will be raising money for other families raising disabled and seriously ill children and young people by asking her friends to donate for a cuppa and slice of cake.

Michelle said about her upcoming event, “I’ll be inviting all my friends and their children. My Messy Tea Party is especially for my birthday so it will be a kid’s party with messy food and pass the parcel, but the mums can have a party too!  I think everyone will love it, it’s going to be great fun! The charity helps so many people, people who struggle to otherwise get things that they need for their disabled children. I can’t wait!”
