Four-year-old Amelia loves loves to sing, dance, read and draw, but most of all she loves to read and play ‘Dear Zoo’. Mum Aine said “Amelia loves to pull the flaps of the book and name the animals. We made the animal sounds together, do the jigsaw and colour in the animals mentioned in the book. Amelia is such a lively child and keeping her entertained is quite a challenge, especially during school holidays as she misses the structure.”

Aine first heard about Family Fund from the Stephen Hartley Down’s Syndrome Support Group. “The difference that support from the Family Fund has made has been amazing,” she says. “I’m quite isolated as Amelia’s grandparents live a distance away. Through the support group and Family Fund I’ve managed to link up with other parents in a similar situation to me. The Fund has helped with transport costs and also a Haven break to North Wales where we had a day at Chester Zoo, which was a perfect day out for Amelia.”
