Ian’s appointment follows the retirement of Gareth Jones from the board of trustees in June of this year after six years in post. Ian brings a wealth of experience to the Charity having held numerous senior executive positions in the private and charity sector.

We are pleased to advise that the Family Fund have received confirmation of this quarter's funding for families in Northern Ireland. We have been notified by the Department of Health that we will receive the same level of funding for 2012/13 that we did in 2011/12, albeit this is a reduction of 11.25% from 2010/11.

Once our first quarters funding is received we will commence grant making. Please note that we now have a large backlog created by the recent shortfall in funding and will be processing these applications in order of date received.

Counting the Costs 2012 is a repeat of a survey and report Contact a Family carried out in 2008 and 2010. Your collective responses will give a snapshot of families’ current financial situation and whether it has improved or worsened over the last four years.

Charity research to make sure Welsh families with disabled children get help

A UK-wide charity which provides grant help to low income families raising disabled children is to launch new research over fears hundreds of Welsh households could be missing out on critical support.

The Family Fund last year supported more than 2,200 low income families in Wales with essential grant items ranging from the cost of travelling to hospital, clothing, and washing machines designed to ease some of the pressures of raising a disabled child.
